Cooking rainbow trout fillets in the oven is easy. Rainbow trout has a mild flavor so all you'll need to make this delicious dish are a few simple ingredients.

If you are cooking the trout on its own, you can wrap it in foil or parchment paper to keep it moist. When cooking it with vegetables simply line the baking tray with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

The asparagus actually takes about 5 minutes longer to cook than the trout does, so when getting your meal ready start with the asparagus.
Prepare and bake the asparagus in the oven for 5 minutes before adding the rest of the vegetables and rainbow trout, placed skin side down on paper, to the baking sheet. Put the tray back in the oven and in just about 10 minutes you will have perfectly cooked trout and veggies!
To make sure I don't overcook the trout fillets, I like to check on them after 10 minutes of cooking time, especially if the fillets are thinner and on the small side.

How To Cook Rainbow Trout
Trout is fish that contains a good amount of quality protein and it’s also packed with omega 3 fatty acids. It’s also low in mercury, making it a safe addition to your diet.
Similar to salmon, rainbow trout is cooked through once it has reaches an internal temperature of 145°F as its thickest part. If you don’t have a meat thermometer, you can check when your trout is fully cooked, by using a fork to check if it the fillet flakes apart easily. Once fork tender, it’s fully cooked.
There’s no need to remove the skin before you cook it! The skin gets so crispy and is so tasty! Just be sure to remove all the fish scales before cooking if you’re cooking fresh trout.
Oven Baked Rainbow Trout Fillets
What I love about this rainbow trout recipe is that it goes well with lots of different herbs such as fresh parsley, thyme, and dill. But I also love to use oregano.
You can use either dried or fresh herbs. And, don’t forget to season it well with salt, black pepper, and a little bit of paprika or red crushed pepper to give more flavour to your fish fillet.
This is a delicious trout recipe that goes really well with mashed cauliflower, garlic cauliflower rice, quick roasted green beans, or even Garlic Parmesan Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
